The 10:00 AM Choir celebrates our ancestors as well as our contemporaries when we sing both traditional hymns and new songs. Each style complements the other and enriches the sung prayer of the people. Our setting is 4 part harmony with color and texture added by strings, woodwinds, piano and organ.
To enhance the sung prayer of the people attending 10:00 AM mass.
We rehearse Thursday evenings, from 7:30-9:00 PM in the church, and warm up and do some light rehearsing on Sunday mornings at 9:20 AM. Thursday evening rehearsals continue until Pentecost. Following the Thursday evening rehearsals, we gather for treats and fellowship.
Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:20 AM in the St. Cecilia room before mass. This lighter schedule gives everyone a well-deserved summer break from rehearsal.
All choir members have the opportunity to join the Seton Festival Choir during Thanksgiving, Easter, and other special occasions.
Four times a year the choir planning committee and the director meet to plan the music for the upcoming church season. All choir members are encouraged to contribute ideas and music selections for those sessions. Members of the committee change from time to time to introduce fresh ideas. These planning sessions occur approximately: February, May, August, and November.
If you love to sing, or play an instrument, consider joining the choir. The ability to read music is helpful, but not required, and you'll always have a guaranteed seat for mass. If you play an instrument, however, you should be fairly proficient. Our limited rehearsal time is not conducive to someone beginning to learn to play an instrument. At this time we are especially interested in adding cello, violin, flute, clarinet, and string bass, as well as singers. To inquire about joining the choir, contact Nancy Drobycki at 972-517-6253 or email@example.com, or fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
