or someone you know needs caring support in a safe spiritual environment...
think parents quickly accept and understand their child's sexual orientation...
think you don't know anyone with a gay or lesbian child...
think families of gays and lesbians are nontraditional...
think the pain is too deep to be healed...
We are a ministry of support and comfort, joined in ministry by clergy of the Catholic Church, help and support the parents and families of gay and lesbian children within the larger Catholic Community, who walk with us on our journey.
struggle with the issue of homosexuality
suffer because our children experience pain and rejection
fear for the physical and emotional safely of our daughters and sons
deplore the prejudice and discrimination that exists throughout our society, as well as within the church
feel isolated by the cloak of silence that separates us from one another within the church
long for understanding and compassion within our communities of faith.
We invite all Catholic parents of gays and lesbians to join together in:
encouraging one another through small groups
sharing our stories in a caring atmosphere
creating an environment where we can hear and be heard.
praying for us, our children, and our church
telling Catholic parents of lesbians and gays about us
working with us in providing pastoral care to families of gays and lesbians.
The Catholic Bishops in their pastoral letter, “Always Our Children,” teaches “...we address our message also to the wider church community, and especially to priests and other pastoral ministers, asking that our words be translated into attitudes and actions that follow the way of love, as Christ has taught. It is through the community of His faithful that Jesus offers you hope, help and healing, so your whole family might continue to grow into the intimate community of life and love that God intends.”
