The 10:00 AM Choir celebrates our ancestors as well as our contemporaries when we sing both traditional hymns and new songs. Each style complements the other and enriches the sung prayer of the people. Our setting is 4-part harmony with color and texture added by strings, woodwinds, piano, and organ.
To enhance the sung prayer of the people attending 10:00 AM mass.
Rehearsals will take place each Thursday night in the church sanctuary or choir practice room (near the west narthex doors). We rehearse Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 PM (we are requested to arrive by 6:50 PM), and warm up on Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM in the choir practice room before Mass.
Note: At certain times of the year rehearsal time will be expanded or moved around to meet special music requirements.
All choir members have the opportunity to join the Seton Festival Choir during Thanksgiving, Easter, and other special occasions. We have, for many years, sung a special arrangement of Our Lord's Passion on Good Friday at noon. This is a very moving experience if your schedule allows you to participate.
Four times a year the 10:00 choir planning committee and the director meet to plan the music for the upcoming church season. All choir members are encouraged to contribute ideas and music selections for those sessions. Members of the committee change from time to time to introduce fresh ideas. These planning sessions occur approximately: February, May, August, and November.
If you love to sing, or play a woodwind or string instrument, consider joining the choir. The ability to read music is helpful, but not required, and you'll always have a guaranteed seat for Mass. If you play an instrument, however, you should be fairly proficient. Our limited rehearsal time is not conducive to someone beginning to learn to play an instrument. To inquire about joining the choir, contact Nancy Drobycki at 972-517-6253 or drobycki@verizon.net, or fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
