If you are trying to donate furniture or other household items, please consider donating to: SVdP - please contact them at the number above for more information. Love Truck cannot pick up your furniture and we will not accept it at our collection at the church. Cahtolic Charities, one of the ministries we support has advised us that they can no longer take furniture donation.
We only accept Food and Clothing. Love Truck cannot accept: household items, toys, furniture, computers, computer montiors, computer parts or accessories, printers, fax machines, mattresses, seasonal decorations, or flat-TVs). This list may change at any time based on the ministries Love Truck supports.
Remember, do not leave donations unless the POD is open and attended by volunteers.
Love Truck is always in need of cleared adult volunteers to help supervise the collection weekends (shift leaders). The collection weekends are described more below. Shift Leaders volunteer for the same amount of time as other volunteers but commit ahead of time to being at the collection for a specific shift. If you are interested in becoming a shift leader, please e-mail or call us at the above contact information.
The basic volunteer opportunity that Love Truck has is our monthly collection weekend. Once a month, we collect donated food, clothing and other specially requested items to load onto trucks for delivery to various agencies in Plano and Dallas.
Regular volunteers can be added to our e-mailing list so they receive a reminder. There is no official sign-up, drop-ins are always welcome and shift leaders are always there to guide new volunteers. There is no need to contact us to ask if we need volunteers. We will never turn volunteers away. Volunteers may consider wearing a face mask when volunteering.
Children are welcome but children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. If a child under 13 is dropped off we will ask them to call their parents to come get them. Children 13 and over will be supervised by an adult while they are volunteering but Love Truck shift leaders will not be responsible for checking them in or out during the collection.
